The JAWContour® facial bone surgery concept is possible thanks to our investment in the latest medical technologies.
3D Printing and Cutting Guides
Our 3D printing capabilities enable us to create customised cutting guidelines alongside practice model surgery for risk prediction and planning. This ensures the design is faithful to what was agreed upon with you and guarantees symmetry while being mindful of the key nerves serving the jaw area to reduce the risk of complications.Ultrasonic Surgical Instruments
An ultrasound scalpel guarantees the cleanest and most concise incisions in mineralised tissues, such as bone. Such unparalleled precision and accuracy help ensure surrounding soft tissues are left untouched, enhancing the safety of the procedure and reducing the risk of post-operative complications and side effects.Bespoke, fixed biocompatible prosthetics
PEEK® – PolyEther-Ether-Ketone material – can be used to create bespoke, biocompatible prostheses for clients who are not suited for fat transfer to the jaw. Fixed in place with titanium screws, these highly-customised prostheses make the impossible possible.PEEK® customised Prosthesis
At times, we are presented with cases that require increasing volumes where fat transfer is not ideal. In this situation, an anatomically fitted prosthetic is personalised to your needs to correct an existing anomaly. For instance, to recuperate volume in a previously operated area with unsatisfactory outcomes. From a three-dimensional CT, prostheses can be printed in biocompatible PolyEther-Ether-Ketone (PEEK) material, which does not generate rejection in the body. Rigid fixation with titanium screws secures the moulded prosthetic in place

After undergoing your jaw bone surgery, you can expect a prompt return to the comfort of your own accommodations the day after the procedure. In the event of combining jaw surgery with other medical interventions, an additional overnight stay at the hospital may be necessary. However, it’s important to note that the initial postoperative nights may not be without their challenges. Following any invasive procedure performed under general anaesthesia, such as jaw surgery, it is usual for patients to experience certain commonly reported symptoms, including nausea, swelling, bruising, and light bleeding.
Immediate Recovery
The first 48 hours following the surgery can prove to be a demanding period for many patients undergoing Facial Bone Surgery. While some individuals may experience only minor discomforts, it’s crucial to recognise that each person’s body reacts uniquely, making it difficult to predict your specific experience. Maintaining a sense of tranquillity is advisable during this time, as our dedicated team of nurses, coordinators, doctors, and specialists is committed to providing comprehensive support. Two to Twelve Weeks Post-Surgery
At this stage, the likelihood of encountering complications requiring surgical attention diminishes significantly. As bruising gradually subsides, you’ll find yourself better positioned to resume your regular activities and work on regaining full jaw strength and mobility. We do recommend abstaining from high-intensity activities for at least six weeks. Over the ensuing months, your healing progress will continue to improve and stabilise.Long-Term Healing
Residual swelling and sensitivity will continue to evolve over time. Throughout your entire recovery journey, our post-operative department remains at your disposal, ready to assist, address any inquiries, or facilitate a consultation, should the need arise. -
Surgical interventions, particularly those performed under general anaesthesia, come with a spectrum of potential complications meticulously outlined in the informed consent documents. Minor incidents, such as swelling, bleeding, or temporary numbness, may manifest to varying degrees and typically resolve in the course of time.
Significant complications are infrequent and are typically identified within the initial days following the surgery. Our patients enjoy the assurance of our medical insurance coverage, which provides support in the unlikely event that unforeseen medical attention is required due to jaw surgery.
At Skullpture, we take pride in our exceptional standard of care, with the occurrence of complications requiring further surgical intervention in jaw surgery averaging just 2.63%.
